Retro blogging again: Italy is so well known as a foodie’s paradise that I’m dedicating this post to the amazing cuisine in Venice & Florence.
Beginning in a Venetian grocery store: i can’t resist visiting supermarkets when traveling abroad just to see what funky variations of products exist, like this kit kat pudding.
First dinner in Venice! Went to Osteria Bancogiro in San Polo neighborhood. Had cicchetti which are like tapas & so delicious.
Pasta at bancogiro
Most wonderful egg sauce at Bancogiro
Visited one of the oldest bacari or wine bars in Venice, amazingly cheap glasses of wine & cicchetti! Cantinone Gia Schiavi in dorsoduro neighborhood.
Visiting the Rialto Fish Market: swordfish
Fresh squid ink!!!!
Aperol spritz in grocery store
Coffee filled chocolates–yum!!
Tiny octopii in the freshest seafood pasta at Trattoria Antiche Carampagne-a cute , tiny & hard to find restaurant in San Polo neighborhood.
After sampling the city’s cicchetti we decided the walnut, ricotta & currant was worth returning to Schiavi’s.
Osteria Antico Giardinetto in Santa Croce neighborhood
Missed our dog so we played with our bread & squid ink to make an edible version of him
Resemblance pretty good, eh?
