Retro blogging from a couple weeks ago: our first trip to India was amazing! We landed in New Delhi airport & headed immediately for Agra to see the Taj Mahal—arguably the world’s most famous monument to love and possibly fertility too!!! The emperor Shah Jahan built it for his third wife Mumtaz Mahal who bore him 14 children—the other two wives didn’t have anywhere nearly as many.
The Taj itself is beautifully facaded in white marble with semiprecious stones decorating every surface!! It has perfectly square symmetry—meant to look the same from all 4 sides.
Going early to the Taj is a must! The lines can be long.
Gotta love those reflecting pools!
Perfect place for a honeymoon or even a babymoon!! Babymoons are starting to get more popular in the larger cities of India like New Delhi.
The semiprecious Marble inlay is gorgeous. My nails that day kinda match it, haha
I loved all the elaborate carved marble screens with intricate geometric cut outs.
