Road to Hana Part one….

Everyone knows a trip to Maui should include traversing the famous Road to Hana—52 miles of meandering, twisting miles of oceanside/rainforest filled road from kahului to hana. There’s so many scenic outlooks/waterfalls/mini hikes & beaches en route that the trip takes a full day.

The first stop: ho’okipa beach park in Paia–home of some massive waves & a good place to watch very experienced surfers ride the waves.

Paia is well known as the best place to grab gas as there are no more gas stations until reaching Hana. Also some decent gelato & places to grab pack lunch. We however didnt stop since had picked up lunch (and dessert!) at leoda’s pie shop at Olowalu/south of Lahaina

We liked Ho’okipa beach so much we had breakfast there!

Next stop: garden of eden botanical garden in Haiku or mile marker 10.5–this stop was particularly baby friendly–relaxed, uncrowded & gorgeous

The beautiful flowers

The garden of eden is privately owned–the owners dog was super friendly & decked out in a lei!

Some ferns–so lush & verdant

Garden of eden had some fantastic scenic outlooks–waterfall & ocean vistas

100 year old mango tree & bamboo groves
